FREE & FRAMEd
EMBROIDERIES
Each artwork in my Free & Framed collection is the result of countless hours at my sewing machine, where I create my Fabel and nature-inspired patterns. Using free-motion embroidery and water-soluble fabric, I stitch with intense focus and precision to bring the images in my mind’s eye to life. When the fabric dissolves, only the embroidery remains, like delicate, yet strong, lace: floating, light, and transparent. It feels as if something magical has happened, as if the threads have captured a fleeting moment of nature's rhythms.
My patterns translate the harmony that exists throughout nature and the universe; the same harmony described by the ancient Greek word “Kosmos”. For me, this is the most beautiful and enchanting transformation: from thread to form, from movement to stillness.
Sen Stitches
INSTALLATIE
Sen Stitches emerged from my embroidery work over the past thirteen years, stitch by stitch, infused with all the words and values that Fabel represents. Beauty, love, and hope. Freedom, peace, and trust. Connection, strength, and silence. Through my installations and textile designs, I invite people to pause and reflect on their own wishes, dreams, values, and intentions.
This installation is inspired by the wish lantern; a symbol of releasing worries, honoring loved ones, celebrating life and love, and sending our wishes, intentions, and prayers out into the universe.
PAPYR
Papyr is a fusion of paper and embroidery. I make pulp from collected paper — ranging from old diaries and inspiring magazines to tax envelopes. The designs are embroidered on water-soluble fabric, and when these elements come together, a transformation takes place. The fabric dissolves, the pulp hardens, and the delicate embroidery remains, seamlessly merged with the paper itself. Fiber and thread form a new unity.
